Information
The launcher uses a compressed gas to launch a rope with a floating projectile attached to the end. The rope used in the videos is a 200ft 1/4" thick line with an average tested tensile load of 970lbs. The current container holds 200 feet of 1/4" line however smaller lines rated at equivalent or greater tensile strengths can be used to increase range. The floating projectile consists of a soft molded urethane body with a foam core. Other projectiles can be adapted and used to deploy a floatation device that inflates on impact. The launcher incorporates multiple safety pop off valves to ensure safe operation and has been engineering with high safety factors (See analysis for more Information).
There are two push button valves that are built into the aluminum handles; one for filling the launcher and one for firing. To fire the launcher all one has to do is simply fill the launcher to the desired pressure and push the fire button. The rope container can be easily removed by pulling the pull-pin and sliding out the container. Another one can be inserted and you are ready to fire another rescue line.
